The focus will be on fun, engagement, making connections, and of course, de-stressing! No drumming experience is necessary!
5:30-6:30: Refreshments, libations and networking!
6:30-7:00: Drumming led by Kathy McCann, Board Certified Music Therapist
7:00-7:30: Linger and mingle!
The Health Benefits of Drumming:
Regardless of your musical experience or where you are in your life, drumming can provide many benefits.
- After an hour-long drumming session, blood samples from research participants revealed an increase in Natural Killer cell activity. Natural Killer (NK) cells are the white blood cells that seek out and destroy cells with cancer and other viral infections. (Pittman, Alternative Therapies, 2001).
- Drumming is aerobic exercise, burns calories, improves mood, and may reduce the risk of disease.
- Drums have brought groups of people together for centuries. It allows us to free ourselves and connect with others in shared musical experiences
